House Oceans Caucus Luncheons

Coordinated in conjunction with the US House of Representatives Oceans Caucus, COMPASS' Washington, D.C. luncheon series brings leading scientists to Capitol Hill to discuss marine science relevant to current legislative activities. By explaining the latest research findings and scientific background on key issues, the luncheons help Congressional Members and staffs stay current on cutting-edge science pertinent to their policy decisions. The series also provides a unique opportunity for the Congress to interact with marine scientists in an informal setting, allowing for lively discussions on ocean issues of interest to Members and staff. Using historical analyses, practical knowledge and the latest science, COMPASS' House Oceans Caucus Luncheons connect scientists and decision makers to inform ocean management decisions and bridge the worlds of science and policy.

Started in 2002, the COMPASS Luncheon series in Washington, DC has covered a wide range of marine science topics. To learn more about specific luncheons or individual talks, please see the descriptions below. For more information about House Oceans Caucus Luncheons, please contact Chad English.
